About me

Forms A - E, Online CPDs , Affiliateship, Access to Local resources, Appraisal process all would make continuous demand on the SAS regular committment ( Often due to resources and Protected Learning Time) . If this all Happens Seamless and conducive to the SPAs there would be less variation in the training and standards of SAS and trainees.. As a middle grade doctor I have felt the acute needs of my own and Peers' situations and identify the common thread in the success stories of article 14 applicants.

With the advent of WEB 2.0 ( Open Source Projects ) applications there is a potential some of the traditional gaps can be addressed . My special interests in IT ( E-learning, E-portfolio, Oline surveys/ assessments, Instructional course design, clinical database management ) , helped me to identify this open source professional networking model. To simplify you blend Google Applications, Wordpress, Facebook, Twitters and you got this Social learning Platform. Harvard University is the recent example to move towards User Led course / Social Learning  model of learning management. I have widely experimented with Mahara, Moodle, Drupal, WIKI , Articulate and have conceived this method to have some functional advantages to achieve the said objectives of SAS grade psychiatrists.

Firstly I would like to thank Ishtiaq and Gonsalez  the founders of this largest SAS Organization in 1994 to address the needs for SAS. And the present executive members of this association Ishtiaq ( again), Joji, Thevar, Kais, Ansari and others for their trust and bearing with my enthusiasm and false starts. This light weight portfolio model with elearning capabilities is ideal to address the following:

  • Forming Peer group
  • Keep a reflective Log / portfolio of all CPD activities
  • Creating central training resource -  user led course / training development
  • Identifying the local training resource

and besides all , remaining motivated , towards Article 14 and Revalidation.

Other options we got at the moment , in the model is to conduct Online surveys, training needs analysis, advocating for resource allocation etc..

I am the current webmaster and taken the training lead role for SASPA. With the help of CEC, I have plans to document this process and validate the methods to the college for recognising this SASPA initiative. Needless to say the Web 2.0 will make its entry to the main stream training, but atleast gives me the hope that SAS grade forum was able to demonstrate it First ( Not so important of course)..

As blogging, forming groups , Keeping reflective logs and all this may need bit of training if you can't figure it out yourself.. We are planning to start FAQs, Presentations, workshops and Online conferences to meet you needs..
